The Lagos State government on Friday unveiled new security equipment valued at 4.7 billion Naira ($31 million) donated to the City’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS), a unit of the Nigerian Police. The provision of the new security gadgets is coming at an important time when Lagosians and visitors to Nigeria’s biggest city have become weary about security situations in the city and Nigeria as whole.

Lagos governor Akinwunmi Ambode says his administration is committed to making the city a safe place for people to live and work, and for businesses to thrive.  He called on Lagosians to assist the police by providing information on suspicious and criminal activities by calling a toll-free emergency hotline at 112.

“With a safer Lagos, we would continue to attract bigger commerce and more local and foreign investment. This would create more job opportunities for our people and generate more taxes for the government to improve on the infrastructure in various sectors,” Ambode said.

“Today, we are raising the bar and repositioning the Lagos State Police Command to a standard comparable to similar outfits in other modern City States. Our Police Command will have its operations significantly driven by the right technology and equipment that will match the emerging sophistication of crime in our contemporary time.”

  2. 55 Ford Ranger Pick-Ups
  3. 10 Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-Ups
