Forbes Inc has named Nigerian telecom Guru, Mike Adenuga in its 2011 list of world’s billionaires. Adenuga joins few other elites who made the grande entrance into the billionaire club.

Adenuga now officially the second richest Nigerian - behind Aliko  Dangote - is believed to worth US$ 2billion and occupies 595 position among the world’s billionaires.

The inclusion of Adenuga, now placed Lagos, Nigeria as member of elite global cities that house the world billionaires.

According to Forbes, “Adenuga debuts on our billionaires list after making waves with mobile technology. His telecom carrier Globacom recently launched a 4G network, and he’s invested $1 billion on a submarine cable connecting Nigeria to the rest of the world. He made his first million at age 26 selling lace and distributing Coca-Cola, then won a contract to build military barracks in the late 1980s. He owns a stake in the Equitorial Trust Bank and chairs Niger Delta oil exploration firm Conoil. Adenuga is a soccer devotee and sponsors a number of tournaments.”

Meanwhile, Adenuga counterpart, Dangote consolidates his lead to become Africa’s richest person with over 557 per cent increase in fortune. Dangote, a guru in the manufacturing industry now worth US$ 13.8billion - from $2.1billion recorded last year - and now sits at position 51 of the world’s billionaires.

Dangote cement also holds the record of Africa’s largest cement manufacturers with a market value of $13billion, which accounts fro a quarter of the Nigerian Stock exchange overall market capitalization.

Both Adenuga  and Dangote are strong backers of Nigeria’ president Goodluck Jonathan - who is seeking to be elected in the country’s upcoming general election.
