By Nigerians  Abroad staff writer

It can be describe as a deja-vu of Hope ‘93 presidential campaign of the late business mogul turned politician Chief MKO Abiola - an electioneering jingles that swept through the landscape of Nigeria and in no small measure enhanced the acceptance  and popularity of  Abiola across Nigeria’s complex ethnic orientation. The newly release campaign video of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) presidential candidate, Mr. Nuhu Ribadu is now an online sensation drawing attention from Nigerians across the globe.

Within the first couple of hours that the video - title ‘Stand Up For Nigeria - was uploaded on nigeriansabroadlive.com, the news and information website recorded more than 50% jump in traffic and page view.

The one minute long campaign video starts with scene of a group of Nigerian students in a classroom calling on the country “to stand up for the right leader”- re-echoing the call a new generation of Nigerians to lead the country into the future.

From the time the viral video was uploaded, hundreds of referral blogs and websites have crawled the page, making the campaign video, the most popular video clip on nigeriansabroadlive.com in recent times.

In April, Nigerians will be going to the poll to elect political office holders - that include the office of the president - for a term of four years. Ribadu, a former anti-corruption agency boss will contest against incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan of the ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Although, the ruling party has been faced with major internal problems in recent times, political observers however believed that President Jonathan still have considerable advantage  going into the poll- being the sitting president with various resources at his disposal.

In Nigeria, a sitting president has never lost an election. Ribadu however maintained that he is pose to become the country’s next president, under a free and fair election.

In the meantime, ongoing merger talk between the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) may have hit the final road block as the latter founder and presidential candidate Muhammad Buhari, on Monday picked a Lagos based pastor and convener of the Save Nigeria Group (SNG) Tunde Bakare as his vice president.

Nigeria’s presidential election is slated for Saturday, April 9, 2011.
